My work aims to portray the relationship of the individual within the natural world. I am drawn to classical figures within art, and in my paintings, I place them within unnatural spaces and settings. I take inspiration from the narrative nature of religious artworks, and my paintings likewise dramatize secular scenes. I experiment predominantly with colour palettes, which I select to add to the ambivalence of the scenes they portray. Painting primarily in acrylic, I hope to show the strangeness of everyday life. And after a period of isolation, I hope the paintings reignite the viewers interest in the natural world.
